This unique terrarium has two plants: Tillandsia caput medusae (Air Plant) and Tillandsia usneoides (Spanish Moss). Every part of it is handcrafted from the beginning to the end. It will add the perfect decorative touch to your house, office, or patio.
The base of the terrarium is made of cholla and old cypress driftwood.
Cholla is a cactus found in the desert SW and Northern Mexico. After several years, old wood naturally dies and can be removed from the plants. After an intensive cleaning and removal of the thorns, we are left with a unique product that is great for displaying air plants.
More about your plants:
Tillandsia caput 'Medusae' is an 'air plant' grows without a substrate and its snake-shaped leaves bring an exotic flair to living rooms. The epiphytic Tillandsia caput-medusae is an easy-care indoor plant, as long as you pay attention to its unorthodox needs. Provided proper care, this tillandsia does not even challenge an inexpert hand. These care instructions explain how to tie up this glamorous bromeliad in a perfect location, make it flower, water properly, fertilize, overwinter and propagate it. Most air plants are epiphytes, using their root system to attach themselves to a host. Interestingly enough, they do not use their roots to pull nutrients from their host rather just to anchor themselves.
Spanish moss (Tillandsia usneoides) is not a true moss, but rather an epiphytic flowering plant that often grows upon larger trees in tropical and subtropical climates
Terrarium Care:
Light requirements: Do not expose to direct sunlight. Pick your spot and do not change it often. For best results choose a bright location for your terrarium.
Watering: When grown indoors, air plants will need to be watered regularly. Mist your plants with distilled or rain water three times per week.
Temperature: The ideal temperature for air plants is between 50-80 °F.
Fertilizing: Not needed
